Republican National Committee Highlights Election Integrity Win In Cobb County

Today, the Republican National Committee (RNC) announced an election integrity “win in Georgia after forcing Cobb County to scrap proposed ballot collection rules that did not comply with the drop box requirements of SB 202. 

"After the RNC stepped in, Cobb County agreed to comply with Georgia law, fix its drop box practices, and pledged to not use an illegal ballot collection scheme," said RNC Chairman Joe Gruters. "Election officials don't get to pick and choose which laws to follow, and the RNC will continue holding them accountable when they don't." 

Over the previous weeks, the RNC sent demand letters to the Cobb County Board of Elections over concerns about failing to comply with Georgia’s SB202, which address concerns with election administration following the 2020 election. In the letters, they raised concerns about placing early voting sites in Democrat aligned areas, instead of evenly throughout the county as required by law. And there were reports of “ballot bags” which would circumvent the legal methods for returning an absentee ballot.  

he RNC has been working to defend SB 202 since it was signed into law in 2021, supporting its implementation and defense against repeated attacks from Democrats and left-wing organizations.
