Trump-Backed Candidates, Including Sen. Lindsey Graham, Dominate South Carolina Republican Primary
This Tuesday, South Carolina Republicans headed to the polls and the results shows that Trump-backed candidates dominated.
Trump-endorsed Senator Lindsey Graham decisively defeated Mark Lynch in the primary. Graham will go onto to face Annie Andrews who secured the Democrat nomination.
On the results, President Trump said, “Congratulations to Senator Lindsey Graham of the Great State of South Carolina on his BIG WIN tonight. With almost 60% of the vote against a large field of very capable candidates, there will be no runoff. Now Lindsey will be able to devote his time to passing the desperately needed, and long overdue, SAVE AMERICA ACT!.”
Trump-endorsed Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) secured his primary win with over 74.1% of the vote.
On the primary victory, Congressman Wilson said, “Tonight South Carolina Spoke and I am deeply grateful. To every single person who came out and made their voice hear tonight, thank you. This victory belongs to you and the people of South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District who continue to put their trust in me. It is an honor of my life to represent this district and I will never stop fighting for limited government, expanded freedom and peace through strength. Thank you for your support and remember — Trump Means Jobs”
Trump-endorsed Congresswoman Sheri Biggs (SC-03) secured her primary victory and ran unopposed.
Trump-endorsed Congressman William Timmons secured his primary victory with 65.8% of the vote.
On his primary victory, Timmons said, “Thank you for my final mandate. It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve the Upstate and fight for the people of South Carolina’s 4th District. Over the next 30 months, we will continue working hard to deliver on President Trump’s agenda and provide the best constituent services possible. Helping our community navigate challenges and get results will always be one of my top priorities. Thank you for your trust, your support, and the opportunity to continue serving you.”
Trump-endorsed Congressman Wes Climer ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
Trump-endorsed Congressman Russell Fry ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
Notably in the race for Attorney General, as the Blue Ridge Times reported, President Trump called out David Pascoe, as a fake Republican. Pascoe came in last place in the primary, Stephen Goldfinch and David Stumbo move on to the runoff election.
