UNC Asheville Announces Emergency Messaging Testing On Thursday, August 20th

This week, the University of North Carolina Asheville announced plans to conduct its quarterly test of its Bulldog Alert emergency messaging system.  

UNC Asheville uses this system to send emergency messages when a critical incident affects the campus community. The system also plays a significant role in providing consistent, reliable, and accurate follow-up communication throughout the crisis. 

The August 20 test will include the University’s outdoor alert system. This system may be used when there is an emergency on campus, a potentially dangerous condition, or an impending threat. 

The test will include the words, “This is a test of the UNC Asheville outdoor alert system,” followed by a five-second tone. When the test is completed, the words “This concludes the test of the UNC Asheville outdoor alert system” will be repeated. 

Testing of the Bulldog Alert system will take place quarterly to ensure all components, including the outdoor alert system, function properly and can notify the community with timely warnings and emergency alerts.
