Unearthed Interview Shows Sen. Ossoff’s Support For Reparations For Slavery, Staff Declined To Detail Any Personal Action Taken By Him
This week, Fox News reported on a radio interview from Sen. Jon Ossoff’s first run for Senate, where Ossoff clearly stated his support for reparations for slavery. When the Blue Ridge Times reached out to Ossoff’s campaign they declined to share if Ossoff still held this view and if he took any actions personally to pay for reparations. The reparations issue a key plank of the Democrat Socialist of America agenda, this is yet another issue where Ossoff is connected with these radicals.
“Georgians deserve to know whether Jon Ossoff still supports reparations, how much his plan would cost, and exactly how much he expects to raise taxes to pay for it.” - RNC Spokeswoman Emma Hall.
This was the first interview that Ossoff took after he announced his first campaign for the United States Senate. In the 2019 interview, Ossoff said, “There is a debt unpaid. I think it is a very, very difficult question: how to pay it," Ossoff told a local radio host. But see, that should be the question — not if it should be paid," the host noted. "Exactly," Ossoff replied.
This aligns with the Democrat Socialist of America platform. "Despite the elimination of Jim Crow and openly discriminatory laws against Black Americans a half century ago, Black people and the Black community as a whole still suffer economic, political and social discrimination and inequality," DSA stated in 2019. "Formally equal treatment on the basis of inequality means the perpetuation of inequality. Reparations for these and other offenses is a current topic of significant discussion during this election."
As the Blue Ridge Times has previously reported, Ossoff history is one marked by nepotism. His family helped pay for his short “career” in the private sector and his entry into politics. Despite the enormous advantage of his upbringing, Ossoff’s campaign could not name any actions he’s taken to personally pay back reparations.
