US Chamber Endorses Michael Whatley For Senate
This week, the US Chamber, the leading business advocacy group on federal issues, officially endorsed Michael Whatley for the United States Senate at press conference in Raleigh. At the press conference the business group contrasted Whatley’s pro-growth agenda, versus Cooper’s record of hiking taxes, enacting regulations, and strangling the American economy with a climate change agenda.
“Michael Whatley knows that the best way to lift up North Carolinians—to lift their wages, expand their opportunities, make the future brighter for their children—is through a growing economy fueled by free enterprise. Michael will support the policies that will drive economic growth and improve quality of life for North Carolinians. Michael supports the policies that will enable job creators to do what they do best: serve people, solve problems, and strengthen this state. On behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, it is my privilege to stand with you today and endorse your candidacy for U.S. Senate,” said Courtney Felts of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Whatley has been campaigning on economic growth and public safety as the key points of his campaign. The Blue Ridge Times has previously covered Whatley’s events discussing President Trump’s agenda of “no tax on tips” and “no tax on overtime.” This year, North Carolinians saw historic tax refunds with an average of $3,400. In contrast to Whatley, Cooper announced his campaign in opposition to President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” continuing his long record of supporting policies that take money out of the pockets of North Carolinians.
“I am honored to receive the U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorsement in my race. Business owners know that Roy Cooper’s agenda will bring higher taxes, more regulations and higher costs, stifling innovation, and cut off job growth. As your Senator I will fight for tax, trade and regulatory policies that will allow small businesses, manufacturers and farmers to create more jobs here in North Carolina!” said Michael Whatley.
Tim’s Take: The public endorsement of Whatley in North Carolina shows that the top political operators in the business community believe in Whatley. While Democrat operatives hope that Republican groups surrender the North Carolina Senate race, the Chamber’s endorsement indicates that top level operations believe Whatley can win.
