Veteran GOP Operative Takes New Role Assisting State Auditor By Advising On Election Administration
Last Friday, North Carolina State Auditor Dave Boliek announced that veteran Republican political operative, Dallas Woodhouse, would serve in a new role assisting the County Board of Election effectively administer elections in compliance with state and federal laws.
Last June, after changes in legislation and court cases cleared the way, State Auditor Dave Boliek appointed a new County Chairman each county across North Carolina. In North Carolina, each county has a County Board of Elections that makes most of the decisions regarding election administration and voter registration. Controversial decisions on the county level are almost always appealed to the State Board of Elections, who makes the final decision in most situations.
Sources close to situation, say that Woodhouse will focus on helping new County Board of Elections perform their oversite role with professionalism and accuracy, with the goal of inspiring confidence in election results. Over the last couple of election cycles, Republican voters’ attitude toward early voting has changed, compared to a decade ago. In the 2024 election, Republicans won the early vote. The newly appointed Republican Boards of Election are expected to expand early voting option to the entire county instead of focusing on Democrat areas; something the previously Democrat-controlled boards were reluctant to do.
