Jamie Ager Joins Democrat Primary For 11th Congressional District
This week, Jamie Ager announced his plan to campaign for the Democrat nomination for the 11th Congressional District. The seat is currently held by Congressman Chuck Edwards, who is running for re-election, and former Col. Moe Davis is running as a Democrat.
Jamie Ager hails from a family deeply connected to Democrat politics; his father served in the North Carolina House, and his brother currently represents eastern Buncombe County in the General Assembly. Ager graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School and Warren Wilson College, where he earned a degree in Environmental Studies and History. He returned to the family farm and over the last 25 years has worked to transform it into a “sustainable” meat company that employs 25 people across the region.
He met his wife Amy in college and has three kids.
National Democrats are clearly worried that retired Col. Moe Davis will win the Democrat nomination and torpedo their chances of seriously challenging Edwards in the fall of 2026. Since announcing his campaign a few months ago, Davis has raised over $80,000 and reactivated his organization.
Tim’s Take: The Democrat primary in North Carolina’s Eleventh district provides a perfect microcosm of the Democrats’ divide on a national level. Will primary voters want a fighter in retired Col. Moe Davis, or will they side with the candidate they believe will be the most competitive in the general election? Only time will tell.
