Mission Hospital Announces Increased Investment In Staff Raises

This week, Mission Hospital announced plans to invest an additional $10 million in additional pay increases for the majority of full-time, part time and PRN colleagues. This investment comes as Mission works to address the impacts of the nationwide healthcare staffing challenges.

“These increases reflect HCA Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to investing in our people and ensuring Mission Hospital remains a place where colleagues feel valued and supported,” said Greg Lowe, President, Mission Health. “Across the country, healthcare organizations are facing workforce challenges, and we are actively taking steps to recruit and retain the talented caregivers our community depends on.”

The investment is separate from and above the standard annual merit increases provided each year to eligible employees and is designed to recognize the important role colleagues play in delivering high-quality care to the community. The pay increases benefit a broad range of roles, including clinical and non-clinical positions, and went into effect May 17th.

This is another building block in Mission Health’s broader effort to strengthen the healthcare workforce across Western North Carolina. The hospital is partnering with local nursing programs across Western North Carolina and offering paid-to-learn programs for Certified Nursing Assistants and Medical assistances. Additionally, they maintain a robust Graduate Medical Education program.

This news comes after Mission Hospital exceeded its goal of hiring 90 nurses in 90 days. Since January 2026, the hospital has hired over 400 people to the team and participated in nearly 40 recruitment events over the last few months. Mission Health credited the success in hiring to the referral bonuses for each colleague they refer who joins Mission Health.
