Democrat Strategists Poke Holes In Ossoff’s Image

The Blue Ridge Times covered last week, how Sen. Ossoff was taking credit for legislation that he voted against. This week, Axios reported on several Democrat strategists who are poking holes in the image that Ossoff has tried to create for himself.  

“Jon Ossoff is an empty suit who continues to cut corners on the campaign trail and in Congress—and now even Democrats are calling him out for it,” said NRSC National Press Secretary Bernadette Breslin. 

Here are three major issues that undermine Ossoff’s image: 

• Ossoff pushes out manicured videos and has not shown that he can handle off-the-cuff situations or long-form interviews. The insiders point out that Ossoff has avoided the podcast circuit in favor of MSNOW interviews.  

• They suggest that Ossoff rode Sen. Raphael Warnock’s coattails into office in 2020.  

• Rich McDaniel, a Georgia-based Democratic strategist, told Axios, Ossoff didn’t get here alone. Many would argue it was Warnock who carried him in 2020, not the other way around, and that’s the ghost that will always follow him. He continued, “What should worry Georgia Democrats more is the pattern underneath it: Black voters build the coattails every cycle, then get left behind when it’s time to hire strategists and control the resources.”  

• Some believe the hype surrounding Ossoff will be short lived, especially as Ossoff declines to openly advocate for the most extreme positions.
