Prolec GE announces a new project in Wayne County, over 330 jobs expected

On May 14th, Prolec GE, a joint venture between Xignux and GE Vernova, announced with Governor Josh Stein plans to expand its manufacturing operation in Goldsboro. This will allow the company to produce more medium power transformers, a key component for expanding electrical grid capacity.

 

Key Metrics for The New Expansion

  • The company plans to invest an additional $140 million and create 330 new full time jobs.

  • The new positions will pay an average of $71,912, above Wayne County’s average annual salary of $46,211. This would add $23.7 million annually to the local economy.

  • The project is expected to generate over $1.05 billion in economic growth and is supported by a $4.6 million incentive package.
