At Alamance County Campaign Stop With Law Enforcement Leaders, Whatley And State Senator Amy Galey Call Out Cooper Administration And Legacy Media Outlets For Prisoner Release Cover Up
Last week, former RNC Chairman Michael Whatley, the Republican nominee for the United States Senate, was joined by State Senator Amy Galey, State Representative Dennis Riddell, and sheriffs from Davie, Randolph, and Alamance Counties.
Whatley opened up the event by saying, “We are going into an election cycle where once again we are going to prove how important these elections are. This a true contrast election. Not just here in North Carolina, around the country. Between the common sense that the Republicans are fighting for and the crazy that our socialists and communists are fighting for every single day. On this campaign in North Carolina, we’ve got three themes that we think are very important.”
Whatley went on to say that is first priority is making sure North Carolinians can make more and keep more. He continued that we need to make sure that America is the strongest, most respected nation on the face of the earth. He concluded by saying that the number one function of government is to keep our communities safe.
North Carolina State Senator Amy Galey spoke next. She highlighted Cooper’s long record of fighting against measures to make North Carolina more affordable and his policies that endangered North Carolinians. On the prisoner release settlement, Galey recounted how the lead official in the Cooper administration tasked with overseeing prisons promised the General Assembly that no violent offenders would be released as part of this deal. Then the Cooper administration refused to release the names of the prisoners who were part of the deal. It turned out that several years later, Galey then went on to call out the Raleigh media for failing to adequately cover this issue, saying that they were complicit in the cover-up.
The three sheriffs went on to document different criminals who were released under Cooper’s term and highlight policy choices that Cooper made that compromised public safety.
